What do Freddie Hubbard, Stan Getz, Elvin Jones, Lee Konitz, Stanley Clarke, Eddie Daniels, Joe Farrell, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, Gwen Stefani, Seal, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Martha Reeves (to name a few) have in common? The answer is, Mike Garson has played with them all!. These have been called “The fastest fingers in jazz.” David Bowie, for whom Garson has long been music director, says, “He’s the best rock & roll pianist I know.” Recording group Free Flight took advantage of his classical training, and Hollywood calls when it needs a virtuoso assoluto. In short, Mike Garson is a phenomenon, able to mimic Bill Evans or Liberace on command, or to soothe an audience with New Age hypnotics. But he’s at his very best wearing his “jazz hat.” Supported by a stellar cast of Brian Bromberg (acoustic bass), Ralph Humphries (drums) and Eric Marienthal (alto saxophone), Garson turns in a memorable set of originals and imaginative arrangements of standards. Most tracks were previously available on RR-53-—long out of print—plus, for this re-release, we’ve added Garson’s “take no prisoners” improvisation on Gershwin themes—also long out of print. Darren Deicide was born on Halloween in the rhythm and blues filled environment of Chicago. With his self-taught playing style, trademark vocals that one review said "makes Satan himself feel as if he is not sinister enough", and a stomping foot, Darren Deicide delivers a contemporary style of roots-influenced rock that has been described as "John Lee Hooker meets Johnny Rotten" and "raw, bluesy punk by a one-man dervish". Like his own multi-cultural background, his music is an eclectic hybrid of many blues-based styles, but remains, as described in another review, as "good, pissed snot-infested rock n roll". Always a fixture on the independent music scene, Darren Deicide would ultimately ramble his way to New Jersey. There he initiated Ever Reviled Records, a collectively owned and run record label that releases counter-cultural music, and became vocalist/guitarist for the now defunct, politically-charged rock band Hopeless Dregs of Humanity from whose remnants emerged his solo project. He maintains a continuous touring schedule and has played with a diverse array of notable artists all over the American east coast, south, and midwest that has spanned from Dead Prez to Danny and the Juniors. He's played on Fox 5's "Good Day New York" as a featured artist on the Make Music New York festival. He is also a columnist for The Aquarian Weekly where his column, "Agent Provocateur", affirms his reputation as a firebrand. Low crowd noise & virtually n one sound from the taper. I've read that some traders give this recording a rating between 8-9. Maynard seems to be in a decent mood and the band is playing as best they can. Adam, however, seems to be only slightly off key a couple times. But, that is just being picky. It would be nice if more recordings from '95 surface as the energy seems to be a little bit different. Like, Tool is in the transition stage from playing smaller venues to larger ones, once AEnima is released. The performance gives the listener a hint of what the future will hold. Над материалом для нового диска Primal Scream Плант поработал в качестве вокалиста. По словам Роберта Планта, он хотел бы продолжать петь, но у него нет желания собирать новую группу или записывать полноценный альбом. Последней на сегодняшний день студийной работой Планта является пластинка "Band of Joy", записанная при поддержке одноименной группы и поступившая в продажу в сентябре 2010 года. Ziggy Pop: Josh Homme has been busy reuniting Queens of The Stone Age for the band’s long-awaited, repeatedly-delayed follow up to 2007’s Era Vulgaris. A decade on from the band’s 2002 album Songs For The Deaf, Dave Grohl is back behind the QOTSA drumkit Trent Reznor – who worked with Queens on their last record – is also back on the team and now another member of the gang recently dubbed “the baddest rock’n’roll band in the world” by Grohl has also signed on for the new mission. Estranged QOTSA member Nick Oliveri has used the Facebook page for his “other” band Mondo Generator to announce that he has returned to recorded vocals on a new Queens of the Stone Age song for the first time since he was fired from the group in 2004. Oliveri had been keen to rejoin Queens of the Stone Age for several years but he revealed last year that Homme had rejected the idea. “I saw them play was a benefit for Brian [O’Connor] in L.A., from the Eagles [of Death Metal],” Oliveri explained. “I was down there and I mentioned to them, ‘Why don’t I come up and do ‘Millionaire’ or something, and sing it and not play bass?’ [Homme] was like, ‘Nah, I don’t think that’s a good idea yet’.” Now we’re just waiting on a confirmation that Mark Lanegan is involved and the whole gang is back together. Lanegan’s project with Duke Garwood has already been announced, and that album is set for release in 2013. Also, according to the post, Mark will start working on a new solo album in January 2013.

They were an eclectic group as far as musical taste, having dabbled in everything from classic rock to punk. The first time they jammed together they played non-stop without speaking for two hours and were seemingly over taken by a trance without any clear reference point. After they played their first show they began to delve into 60’s German krautrock while cultivating their love of and simultaneous propulsion towards motorik beat. There is foreshadowing from melodies and ideas that weave the record's story together, and it takes time and imagination from the reader/listener. Unfortunately, few people these days take the time to make or listen to an album created as a whole piece, but No Elephants is short and worthy of the attention paid. "Making a record any other way doesn't work for me," she says. This is a deeply felt, simply and beautifully orchestrated music whose dulcet charms, when scratched, reveal an ineffable glow. While Lisa's lyrics can be forcefully literal, they're also gratifyingly figurative; as pure music, her songs offer a resonantly oblique time and place. Such a feeling resounds on the opening track, "Ruminants," a pensive lullabye that has, Lisa says, something to do with the natural order to this world that the human race has messed up, especially in how we treat animals and the earth itself. "My communication with myself, the earth and it's beings is getting weirder every day," comments Germano. "If I could replace all the shit in my head, my troubles relating to humans and the earth's beings' troubles relating back to me...I think that's what this record is about." Lisa Germano's records are like Grimm's Fairy Tales, stories set in a magical place where darker messages for the soul can be pondered if so desired. Lisa is known to a worldwide fan cult for a series of savagely honest and musically intrepid solo albums that commenced in the early '90s for the 4AD label, including the cynical debut Happiness in 1994 and the sexual-warfare-running-amok Geek the Girl, also from '94 (which was included in Spin's top 100 records of the 1990s). A series of follow-up records found her exploring with widening musical palettes some of the farther reaches of the scary rock-as-catharsis world. Also known as a multi-instrumentalist with such diverse artists as Eels, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Crowded House, Philip Selway (Radiohead), Indigo Girls, John Mellencamp and Giant Sand, Lisa plays most of the instruments and music on her records, giving them even more direct emotion from the storyteller.
