Coma: Ziggy Pop пишет: recording for the new album is already FINISHED. Ziggy Pop пишет: Maynard states that he had originally planned to go into the studio with Trent Reznor Ziggy Pop пишет: “Great things are happening”….great things indeed.

Maynard states that he had originally planned to go into the studio with Trent Reznor

Ziggy Pop: Maynard talks about Tool & Puscifer plans September 11th, 2010 Alt-rock vet Maynard James Keenan is planning to release a new DVD with his band Puscifer in early 2011—and he's courting a few new collaborators for the project: Ron Livingston (Band of Brothers, Office Space) and Lizzy Caplan (Hot Tub Time Machine, True Blood), his co-stars in an upcoming independent comedy film, Queens of Country. "I dangled a carrot in front of [them]," Keenan tells SPIN.com. "I showed them some of stuff we were doing with Puscifer and of course those guys were totally like, 'We wanna do something!' So hopefully I can hold them to their drunken word." The DVD from Puscifer—Keenan's revolving cast of musicians and comedians, including Resident Evil hearthrob Milla Jovovich, comedian Brian Posehn, and Primus drummer Tim Alexander—will feature new and old comedy skits and live performance footage. After the DVD's release fans can expect Puscifer to return to the road, but not before then. "People have weird expectations—they expect a band. Just a band," Keenan says of Puscifer's variety-show-like approach. "Until you actually show them the DVD with these episodes with performances and characters and animation, we're still going to have people coming down thinking this is only a band, when it's actually something different." In addition to Puscifer, Keenan is currently harvesting grapes at his Arizona vineyards for his Caduceus Cellars wines and promoting Blood Into Wine, a documentary film about the process. New music from Tool is also in the works. "They are getting together and writing," he says of bandmates drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, and bassist Justin Chancellor. "I'll be popping back into L.A. soon to check in."

Ziggy Pop: M.T.Void release approaching Justin sent us a message today via Toolband regarding Nothing’s Matter, the debut release from M.T.Void: We are proud and excited to announce the imminent release of "Nothing’s Matter", the complete and concise work of "M.T.Void" – an experimental collaboration, of the sonic kind, between Justin Chancellor and Peter Mohamed. The logistics of making this available to you all have so far proved to be an obstacle. We are currently in the process of procuring a remedy… Our only business is making music, and businessmen are bad company for our record… P.S. The staff at Guantanamo Bay Records really needs a space station vacation. xxx Personally I liked what I heard from the snippets they’ve released so far, so am looking forward to the full album getting a release. http://www.myspace.com/mtvoidband

Ziggy Pop: Monday will be a good day… September 13th, 2010 …to be an A Perfect Circle fan according to Billy’s Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/billyhowerdel Combined with a Facebook update of “Stay Tuned” we can only guess that tour dates will be announced then. Or perhaps just some more information regarding their plans. In other social media related news, Junior posted on Facebook just a little while ago that he’ll be working with Devo the next couple of months. Possibly importantly for us Aussie fans he mentioned that he’ll be “Done before January. ”. I’m pretty much 100% convinced now that Tool will be Big Day Outing.

Ziggy Pop: James Iha to tour again as part of A Perfect Circle http://twitter.com/aperfectcircle

Ziggy Pop: It's on. A Perfect Circle will play Phoenix (Marquee Theatre), Los Angeles (Avalon), Seattle (Showbox at The Market), San Francisco (The Fillmore) and Las Vegas (The Pearl) this fall. Each of the three-night stops will feature one of A Perfect Circle’s albums in its entirety (Mer de Noms, Thirteenth Step and eMOTIVe). Las Vegas (The Pearl) will be a two-night outing (Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step). Dates and ticket on-sale information to you shortly. A Perfect Circle performs on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Oct. 27. http://aperfectcircle.com http://twitter.com/aperfectcircle Keenan says he’s inviting former bandmates — bassists Paz Lenchantin and Jeordie White along with guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen — to stop by the shows: “I think some of the shows, depending on timing and depending on scheduling, we’ll have Paz and Troy and Jeordie pop down for a song or two.” http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/17386/202990 A Perfect Circle На шоу в Фениксе (Marquee Theatre), Лос-Анджелесе (Avalon), Сиэттле (Showbox at The Market) и Сан-Франциско (The Fillmore) команда сыграет песни из трех студийников. (The Smashing Pumpkins, A Camp) Faith No More, Nine Inch Nails Guns N' Roses и The Smashing Pumpkins. В дискографии A Perfect Circle три альбома и DVD.

Ziggy Pop: The Big Day Out for 2011 have been announced and Tool are officially headlining the Big Day Out in 2011!! Other acts include Rammstein, Deftones, Grinderman, Iggy & The Stooges, Andrew WK and more. Hopefully some more details will be available soon! Here’s the announcement video: The Big Day Out dates are as below: •Friday 21st January – Auckland, New Zealand •Sunday 23rd January – Parklands, Gold Coast (tickets on sale October 7th with ticketmaster ) •Wednesday 26th January – Showground, Sydney (tickets on sale October 6th with ticketmaster) •Sunday 30th January – Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne (on sale 8th October with ticketmaster) •Friday 4th February – Showground, Adelaide (on sale 8th October with ticketmaster ) •Sunday 6th February – Claremont Showground, Perth (on sale 8th October with tickmaster) The sky will blacken, the ground will shudder, the earth will open up and BIG DAY OUT will once again tremble in the presence of the awe-inspiring TOOL. “Primal, poignant, poetic and, as always, utterly powerful” (ARTISTdirect, July 2010). Touring Down Under for the first time in four years, vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor will be fresh from the studio, where they have been slowly crafting a follow-up to 2006’s 10,000 Days. From Lateralus to Stinkfist, you know the music. But, backed by a video and laser light show unlike any other, TOOL live is also “the kind of visual experience you’ll probably never have again” (CHARTattack, August 2009). Unmatched in the world of dark, heavy rock, California’s TOOL have over 20 years scorched themselves a place as “one of the best live bands in history” (ARTISTdirect). Be blinded by their light at BIG DAY OUT 2011

Ziggy Pop: Justin talks about the new album September 30th, 2010 an interview that Justin has done recently with the New Zealand Herald http://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=10676954 The article itself is in regards to their appearance on the Big Day Out Festival, but Justin drops several hints about the new album: “But we all come up with stuff on our own, and probably for the first six months we just share our ideas with each other, spending hours dithering around. So it really is a big kind of jam session.” And all he can say about the new album, which might be ready by the end of next year (“You’ll have to be patient”), is that “it’s going to be exceptional”.

Coma: Ziggy Pop пишет: "You’ll have to be patient” да-да-да =)

Ziggy Pop: TOOL BIG DAY OUT FESTIVAL DATES 2011: Jan 21 - Auckland Jan 23 - Gold Coast Jan 26 - Sydney Jan 30 - Melbourne Feb 4 - Adelaide Feb 6 - Perth With the 2011 BIG DAY OUT dates now confirmed (and fans hoping for some Tool solo shows to be added), the band members continue with their near daily jamming/writing sessions at the loft. And despite persistent rumors that they're about ready to go into the studio, the truth of the matter is that they're not that far along in the writing/arranging process (if you think playing a nano-Silverburst is difficult, try to imagine using nano-guitar effects with it). Even so, the guys are stoked about the new material - so much so, in fact, that perhaps it might be a good idea for me to drop in next week to hear for myself what one band member's girlfriend meant when she told me that it sounded like... Tool. And when I go to check it out, I'll be sure to take with me a very telling metal lid from a can of whole kernel corn that I recently purchased from "Trader Joe's" (yes, from an overly exuberant clerk at the local grocery chain with Nazi connections. (What do all of you hippies driving VW's think of that - I ask, while writing this at my Ikea desk?) The reason for bringing along the lid from the can of corn (maize to those students of the new-Mayanism) is, of course, to serve as a reminder and keep the band members focused on the task at hand - difficult as that might be - in order to produce a new album before it's too late. For certainly, along with the rebuilding of Babylon by Americans, the IRS buying shotguns, hole punch clouds, tropical drinks in Cleveland, and the Queefs starting the season at 3-0, it is further evidence that the world as we know it will end on December 21, 2012 e.a. (Better stock up on the "two-buck Chuck" when the fourth bell tolls!) And honestly, what good is a new Tool recording in a world with the envisioned Fourth Reich's Nibiru wunderwaffen, Popcicle sticks with boobs, assassin caterpillars, deep-fried Twinkies, and baby-killing pythons slithering in a doomed hellscape under a Miami black sun? =)

Ziggy Pop: Aaron Harris from Isis will join Tool on the Big Day Out tour, presumably as some kind of sound technician.

Ziggy Pop: Danny Carey took part in a John Bonham tribute night last weekend

Ziggy Pop: "In a highly covert operation involving operatives and secret agencies from several different countries, a "Mothership" from the planet EMU was apprehended this afternoon in Hollywood California. The mission had apparently been in the works for 4 to 5 weeks said project manager Daniel Carey. "It took some of our greatest minds, a lot of determination, and some incredible patience to bring the craft into our custody, but it was well worth it. Now the real work can begin" he added, which will involve reverse engineering various technologies from the vehicle for advancement in space travel, time manipulation, and the development of higher order languages in order to communicate with known and unknown alien species. Head research scientist Chris Pitman added that due to the modular construction of the craft these advancements will be much more easily obtainable than we had previously thought. We expect positive results very soon in the future."

Ziggy Pop: Danny speaks with Faster Louder October 27th, 2010 There’s an excellent interview with Danny on Aussie site Faster Louder this morning. He talks about preparations for the tour and touches on the new album as well: What can we expect from this Tool show that differs from the band’s previous Big Day Out appearance in 2007? Definitely different lighting features, props and visual delights I guess! Not a lot of new music but we’ll try to mix it up as much as we can, maybe pull out a few oldies that people may not have heard in quite a while. Maybe give a few hints of some things that we’ve been working on in between songs. Who knows. Maybe by then we may even have a couple of new songs to play. We’re working on them daily so it kind of depends on how far along we get. There definitely will be big visual surprises. It won’t be what you saw last time. There’ll be some of the similar elements in certain songs that we’re happy with how they’ve developed visually. Also interesting is the possibility of digital releases: The music industry has seen a lot of changes in recent times, with the continued decline in album sales and the increase in both legal and illegal downloads. How will Tool attack the digital market/world or will you just stick to the conventional CD release? It’s kind of tough. The thing that we sort of disappointed about is that the way it’s all set up is that it’s catering to short attention spans rather than selling albums, they’d [the record companies] would rather sell a single or a lot of the time, butchered down versions of singles. It’s a sad situation because we’ve always put a big importance on buying albums as a single piece of art. We attempt to present our albums as albums and we’re actually negotiating with our record company and different people to release our stuff in the digital format. We wanted to make a point that the digital downloads can be available at the highest quality that technology will allow, even doing it at a higher level than any of our CDs. That is a positive side of the whole technological advancement in music. http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/features/26094/Tool

Ziggy Pop: Last night, A Perfect Circle played live for the first time in public since 2004, performing 4 songs on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! back lot. Here’s Weak & Powerless, which aired on Jimmy’s show. The Audio Perv has a clip of Imagine that played during the credits. After those two songs, the band also performed Passive (with some alternate lyrics), and Judith. The band could be heard soundchecking in the lot throughout the evening, performing Weak And Powerless and Imagine, over and over, obviously wanting to sound their best climbing out of their hiatus directly onto a live national broadcast. Oddly enough, or perhaps obviously enough, the two “bonus” songs that followed were the highlights, and the band seemed to have a little less pressure on their shoulders as they viciously lunged in. The first verse of Passive featured a nod to new dad Trent Reznor (thanks Anon & commenters). We dug up a recording for you, so hear for yourself: Trent just had a baby the doctor tells me I just can’t believe it Ever the optimistic one I’m sure of his ability to become a wonderful daddy

Philosopher: Ziggy Pop

It’s a really cool thing to be in the middle of this process, and it’s my hope we can capture something special in the studio.”

Ziggy Pop: CHILDREN OF SATURN WITH GUESTS BMB AND DANNY CAREY 10 years ago Danny and I (BMB) were invited by Art Bell to be the guests on his popular late night radio program "Coast To Coast AM." Although (unfortunately) certain events in Art's personal life (along with Tool's busy schedule) prevented this from happening, on MONDAY, JANUARY 10th, we will be the guests on the "CHILDREN OF SATURN" internet radio show hosted by Rynne Stump (www.radio23.org/ccr - 6-8 PM, PST). Among the subjects we will talk about are our many forays to the perimeter (and on at least one occasion, beyond the perimeter!) of the 'secret' Groom Lake facility better known as AREA 51. Having personally made 51 trips* to the area between the late 1980s and 2010 (over 20 years!), I've certainly seen my fair share of strange things (and not just in the sky). As we most likely would have talked about on "Coast To Coast", one of our experiences involved being the first civilians to be detained at gunpoint and fined for trespassing into the restricted zone (in a place where the signs warn in bold red print: "USE OF DEADLY FORCE AUTHORIZED"). This occurred in mid April 1995 - just one day after a controversial land grab closed off an additional 4,000 acres of BLM land, thus preventing public access to two ridges that offered an unobstructed view of the secret installation. If time permits, I will also share some stories about trips to the alleged Roswell crash/retrieval site and a couple of ill-advised visits to the exceedingly ominous Archuleta Mesa in Dulce, New Mexico. All in all, it should be fun. We will also be playing some of the 'spacey' music that I used to blast out there under those incredibly starry skies (not just to set the mood, but, more importantly, to attack mysterious areoforms!), along with a couple of Area 51 inspired Tool songs. записал, залил, инджойте “CHILDREN OF SATURN” WITH GUESTS BLAIR & DANNY CAREY 192 kbs 167 Mb http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CY3BFNQP set: arriving UFO – YES – tormato spaceship – the vines – vision valley aliens – dr. octogon – the return of dr. octogon the acrobat between the stars – suprise – assault on merryland phillip glass- various – 1000 airplanes on the roof faaip de oaid – tool – lateralus (special vinyl version) klaatu – calling all occupants of interplanetary craft – S/T inca road – zappa – one size fits all rosetta stoned – tool – 10,000 days golden letters on the keyboard play – secret passages – transcendental voyages into your being subterranean homesick alien – radiohead – OK computer sphere of innocence – allen holdsworth – wardenclyfe tower U.F.O – torche – songs for singles universal traveler – air – walkie talkie

Ziggy Pop: Unseen Tool Documentary Soundcheck was a documentary following particular musicians on their journey into sound, aired by the now defunct television station NPS (Nederlandse Programma Stichting). It was broadcasted in 4 episodes in august of 1997. Also starring were John Hayes & Vinny Fazzari, Mark Sandman [1952-1999] and Michael Franti. Includes short soundcheck takes of Third Eye by TOOL @ The Garage - Cincinnati, OH [1996_11_16]. Converted from VHS and edited by Barry Toma documentary with Danny Carey. Danny talks about a range of topics from his influences, to gear and touring. There’s also plenty of soundcheck footage included as well some cool live footage.

His voice will always be immaculate but I expect him to cop some flack of not having the youthful variance he once possessed. Performance wise, the highs are not as reachable but he has already admitted this via APC’s recent interviews, suggesting he will continue to do his best, and that best was on full display for 95% of last night, even if aided by a megaphone. Regardless they are still his songs, underneath the wine-soaked surface of his character, any way he performs them will always be brilliant if you accept that the band has aged while you have aged with them. the audio of the full show minus the first half of Third Eye http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YBM05SIT Tool post video from the road January 27th, 2011 A member of Tool, presumably Maynard has filmed and uploaded a short video of the band preparing to enter the stage at the recent gig in Brisbane. Ziggy Pop: Tool talk new album on JJJ Danny & Justin had another chat with Aussie radio station Triple J the other day, and had the following to say about the upcoming Tool album: Chatting with Rosie on triple j, band mates Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor were typically cagey when it came to Tool's first planned release in 5 years. Even joking that the follow up album to 2006's 10,000 days should be called 50,000 days. However, Carey did admit that while they hope to have the record out by the end of the year, they are still yet to decide on a name. That's usually the last thing that happens and we argue about that while weЃfre making the final master of the record. We don't even have names for the songs until then. Another Tool video from the road Maynard has posted another Tool video from the road, this time from the second Sydney Big Day Out show on the 27th.

Ziggy Pop: an interview with Danny in the latest edition of Beat magazine http://www.beat.com.au/music/2011/01/19/tool/andrew-wk-angus-amp-julia-stone-big-day-out-crystal-castles-deftones-grinderman-iggy-amp-stooges-joh Danny Carey о новом альбоме: I’m hoping it’ll be out... definitely before the end of Ziggy Pop: Having returned from their recent tour Down Under, after taking a few days to recover from any jet-lag, and to take care of personal affairs, starting last Monday, members of the band returned to their studio/loft to continue writing and arranging new material. According to one band member, although Tool has received numerous lucrative offers to perform live (summer tours both here and abroad), they have (unanimously) decided to focus their creative energy on producing a new album. As a matter of fact, the all-important dry-erase board has been brought out and is, with each passing day, becoming filled with colorful scrawls relating to the various arrangements that are only decipherable to the band. I should only add that this is a process that has in the past worked well for them.

Ziggy Pop: New A Perfect Circle tracks, but no new album A Perfect Circle do have some new songs (which they hope to play on the coming tour) there are no plans to record them or a full album just yet: Howerdel said A PERFECT CIRCLE will be “playing some of the new songs,” on this tour, “so that’s always an exciting prospect.” “We’re still kind of in the creative process of them, but we have every intention of playing them live,” he added. “I’m really looking forward to it. I’m also looking forward to getting back on a tour and playing big enough places to actually have a production of sorts.” Howerdel also said the while he’s excited for the new songs, don’t expect a new CD…yet. “No album right now,” he said. “Songs will trickle in as they’re written and as needed, so maybe next year that will come together as a bigger collection of songs. But right now, there won’t be an album.”

Ziggy Pop: Danny in Drum Scene, More Tool Collectables April 8th, 2011 According to Milhuisen, Danny will appear in Issue 64 of DRUMscene, apparently Australia’s #1 Drum Magazine. As well as a “huge” interview, it will feature a poster.

Ziggy Pop: Danny Carey Interview in DRUMscene April 9th, 2011 Danny speaks extensively about where the new album is at, the Live DVD, recording/song writing techniques and more. In fairness to the magazine and copyright laws, I’m not going to scan it for you guys, however here’s some of the highlights of the interview: • The loved the Big Day Out tour, it was a great break for them and they love the relaxed atmosphere that comes with playing in the tour. They the it off really well with the guys from Rammstein. The highlight of the tour for Danny was the Melbourne sideshow. • As of the time of the interview 4 songs are in the works, which Danny expects is about half the album. Danny seems keen to write shorter and more to the point songs this time round, but things seem to have a habit of growing! So far the songs seem to be heading along the path set by Jambi. • Maynard is expecting to spend some time with Tool before the A Perfect Circle shows and has expressed a desire to be more involved in the writing this time round, as Danny suggested that Maynard found some of the complex rhythms of the last album hard to write for. • There will be no further tours until the album is released, which all things going well they hope if 2011. The plan is to be in the studio by the end of the US summer. • They are leaning towards using Joe Baressi for the album, but haven’t ruled out using David Bottrill. Depends on how the remaining song writing pans out. • Danny’s really keen on getting a Live DVD out, using the footage recorded on previous tours (he talks specifically about the 6 pro-shot shows). As far as he knows the others in the band are keen, but it is a lengthy process editing the footage. Seemed pretty sure it would see the light of day eventually.

Ziggy Pop: 4 songs are in the works, which Danny expects is about half the album. Bear in mind the interview was probably done at least a month ago, and since mid-February they've been working pretty much 5 days a week songwriting

Jethro Tull

Ziggy Pop: A Perfect Circle playing Lollapalooza A Perfect Circle were today announced as part of the Lollapalooza lineup for 2011. A Perfect Circle seem to be one of the second tier acts, and other bands joining them on the three day festival include Foo Fighters, Ween, Muse, Deftones, Death From Above 1979 and The Cars. Overall it seems like a quite reasonable lineup, and much lighter on shitty metal than other festivals they’re playing.

Not sure what Adam's up too (besides working on new Tool songs), but recently DANNY got together for a drumming/recording session with NEIL PEART (RUSH) and STEWART COPELAND (THE POLICE). LES CLAYPOOL was also involved, but I'm not sure as to what capacity. Whether or not these guys will get together again, or anything will come from the initial 'session', I really don't know. Ziggy Pop: Howerdel discusses new A Perfect Circle material In a recent interview with Gotham Radio, Billy Howerdel talks about A Perfect Circle, new songs, the upcoming tour and Ashes Divide. Here’s a snippet: So will we hear new APC music on the tour? “We are gonna hear at least a song, I would say,” Billy tells me. “One of them is very, very close to being done. And from there, things could come together once we get on the road and start hashing through some of the other ideas and they could quickly become a song and find their way onto the live stage.” Does that mean a new album is in the works? “In the works, but not for this summer. I think the idea was to try and get the juices flowing a bit and get back into A-B-C mode a bit and go from there,” he says. “See what happens in the new year. We have intentions of recording new material.” http://freegotham.com/2011/05/09/gotham-interview-with-billy-howerdel/

Ziggy Pop: Maynard talks up Puscifer Album, Tour June 23rd, 2011 In a recent interview by Spin, Maynard talks about the forthcoming Puscifer album Conditions Of My Parole: The album features frequent Puscifer collaborators, including producer Mat Mitchell, Telefon Tel Aviv’s Josh Eustis, and British singer/songwriter Carina Rounds, plus newcomers including Jeff Friedl and Matt McJunkins from ASHES dIVIDE, L.A. songwriter Juliette Commagere, Bat for Lashes drummer Sarah Jones, and Jon Theodore, the former sticksman for Mars Volta. "He’s got some serious chops," says Maynard. "Working with different people opens up a whole new set of questions and puzzles and solutions. The album should be released October 18-th and will include a two month tour. Of Tool, Maynard mentions that “We’re writing”. full article: http://www.spin.com/articles/studio-maynard-james-keenans-puscifer "We're still mixing, but it's mostly finished," Maynard tells SPIN. Ziggy Pop: 1996 Commercial Release Album: Aenima Label: BMG Music / Zoo Entertainment / Volcano Entertainment Produced by: Tool / David Bottrill Recorded at: Ocean Way Studios + The Hook Studios, Hollywood, CA, USA - 1995/1996 Side A: Stinkfist Eulogy H. Useful Idiot Side B: Forty Six & 2 Message To Harry Manback Hooker With A Penis Intermission Jimmy Side C: Die Eier Von Satan Pushit Cesaro Summability Aenema Side D: (-) Ions Third Eye Bridging the gap between experimental-alternative, metal & progressive ideas of what an album "can be", Aenima was released in 1996 to much anticipation from fans, critics & other artists. Opening with Stinkfist, a song that many consider to be a Tool-staple & closing with the mammoth Third Eye, also considered to be a staple, this album is as relevant today as it was in the mid-1990's. Many Tool fans consider this album to the creative-pinnacle or the essential Tool-release for even the most haphazard of music fanatics. Each song denotes a certain comment on not only the macro-scale, society at large, but also on the micro-scale, an individual's perception of their place in whatever reality they inhabit. Aenima is not an album that is absorbed after one single listen - this is an album that allows even the most rabid fan to hear something new with virtually ever listen. With the addition of Justin Chancellor on bass, who replaced Paul D'Amour, & thought-provoking subject matter, the album takes the listener on a journey - to what or where, that is not for me to say. Each song may mean something unique to you, me & the next person. As for the vinyl release, there were only approximately 15,000 copies released in 1996 with no reprints. This is rather hard to find. http://www.discogs.com/Tool-ЁЎnima/release/1700716

Ziggy Pop: Puscifer - "Man Overboard" (4:19) http://narod.ru/disk/19391651001/Puscifer%20-%20Man%20Overboard.mp3.html For more than 20 years Tool's Maynard James Keenan has been crafting music that's equally menacing and seductive. His latest is "Man Overboard," the first single from his other band Puscifer's second studio album, Conditions of My Parole, out October 18. Listen to the song below, exclusively on SPIN.com. "Musically, it's like Twin Peaks in the desert," Keenan tells SPIN of the LP and its first single, recorded at his Northern Arizona vineyards. "Man Overboard" is a shadowy industrial boil with revving-Harley guitar riffs, a rolling-tank bass line, and skyward synths fit for a goth choir. And this all is carefully sprinkled with electronic plinks and patters to heighten drama and summon those hairs on the back of your neck. http://www.spin.com/articles/exclusive-puscifer-debut-eerie-first-song

Ziggy Pop: A Perfect Circle August 02, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Denver, CO

Ziggy Pop: A Perfect Circle August 02, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Denver, CO Review: A Perfect Circle at Red Rocks, 8/2/11 By Dave Herrera It seems more than a bit paradoxical that A Perfect Circle's frontman prefers to perform in background. With Tool, his primary band, and with A Perfect Circle, Maynard James Keenan is an enormous presence. His voice is the driving force of both acts. And yet live, he chooses to blend unassumingly into the shadows on platform by himself off to the side, shrouded in darkness. And while this sort of seemingly subversive tactic would clearly detract from just about any other artist's performance, with Keenan, who happens to possess one of the most captivating voices in all of rock, it actually enhances the experience of seeing him live, allowing you -- nay, forcing you -- to focus almost entirely on the imposing power of his vocals. With A Perfect Circle, Keenan is obviously far less dynamic than he is with Tool. Just the same, he's no less affecting. With exception of certain passages on songs like "Hollow" and "Outsider," in which he opened up and explored the higher reaches of his register, he mostly crooned in a vigorous midrange as the band made its way through a set that consisted of songs from all three releases, including a choice selection of covers from eMOTIVe. Some takes fared far better than others. John Lennon's "Imagine," a song that's famous for being hopeful and empowering, was rendered positively dirge-like and dour, while "What's Going On" was unforgivably neutered by a droney minor key arrangement that sucked all of the soul out of the original. Despite this, Keenan somehow managed to tap into the exasperation of the tune, infusing it with an underlying tension and disquieted desparation that added an unexpected depth to the Marvin Gaye classic. Although Keenan's vocals served as the undeniable centerpiece of the songs, the singer was accompanied by a band of notably accomplished musicians, particularly guitarist Billy Howerdel. In addition to showcasing some fine fretwork throughout the set, the guitarist - who could get work as a stunt double for Billy Corgan if ever there was a need -- tickled the ivories of a toy piano on "Annihilation," which opened the show, and later expertly added eerie, disembodied, falsetto harmonies on songs like "When the Levee Breaks" and expertly channeled Keenan as he sang lead on "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding?" The band's drummer (Jeff Friedl?) turned in an equally impressive standout performance. The staging wasn't very elaborate. Rolls of chainmail-like fencing, resembling an industrial grade mosquito netting, were draped from three sides of the stage and served as the backdrop in which APC's logo was affixed to. The unrelenting rain pitched in to provide another unexpected visual element that perfectly suited the downcast nature of A Perfect Circle's music. While standing in the rain for extended periods of time is normally wearisome and tedious on every front, on this evening, what would've otherwise been considered a dreary midsummer night, the rain felt oddly cleansing. Not only did it provide a welcome repreive from the stifiling heat we've been experiencing recently, but the solid sheets of rain added the ideal shading to songs, particularly when illuminated. Ironically, as soon as the band trotted out "When the Levee Breaks," with Keenan singing the lines "if it keeps on raining, the levee is going to break," the rain slowed to a mist. It yet another incongruent snapshot from a night in which incongruity seemed to be the theme. Before taking the stage, after a lively and entertaining set from Red Bacteria Vacuum, a Japanese pop-punk trio, a selection of showtunes from the Sound of Music played over the speakers -- not exactly the type of music you'd expect to hear in before a band like A Perfect Circle. Turned out to be a perfectly fitting palate cleanser. Personal Bias: Marvin Gaye is like god to me. His songs are sacred and should not be messed with. By anybody.

Ziggy Pop: Queens of Country trailer the trailer for the upcoming movie Queens of Country from the guys who produced Blood Into Wine. Rather than a musical documentary, it seems to be a comedy movie with a country music theme to it. As you should all know by now Maynard has a role in it I’ve been looking forward to this movie and have been in email contact with someone associated with the film for quite some time now. This film was finished, produced and slated for release in March 2011. The editing wrapped up in January 2011 and before it was distributed to theaters the cast was shown an advance copy. Upon seeing viewing the fim Maynard became furious saying “My hair looks so totally embarrassing and the lighting does not accentuate my eyes. I look super horrible” before knocking Ryans water bottle off of the table, karate kicking the sound guys cup of coffee onto the projector and storming out screaming that while filming the movie his eyes were permanently damaged because that “fucking asshole” lighting guy. Apparently he tried to get approval to wear glasses because of his sensitive eye but was denied on the basis that it would not make sense for he character to be wearing huge aviator glasses in every scene, he even wanted to wear glasses during the night scene and sex scene and was informed it was not going to happen. A few days later Ryan Page recieved a cease and desist notice from Maynard’s lawyer blocking release of the film with the threat of a lawsuit should the film see the light of day. I was told some negotiations between attorneys took place and a deal was confirmed two months later after tense negotiations. While the details are not yet known, we do know that an agreement was made where Maynard is going to be payed an additional amount of money for not going forward with a lawsuit and reshooting his parts of the movie where he has Full artistic control. In the first version of the film Maynard played a cop and during the rehearsals he also tried the character as a mailman. Apparently he was upset that the wardrobe department would not approve the postman uniform he brought from home along with a hat that said postal on the basis that it wasn’t authentic enough and they were pretty sure mailmen don’t wear shirts that say postal. This really ticked him off but he was allowed to use a police outfit that he brought from home in the original scenes. In the edited version of the film Maynard will be playing a mechanic and will direct himself during the reshoot. As part of the contractual agreement the director was not be allowed on site when the scenes were reshot. The directors did not like this but Maynard kept rambling about “artistic integrity” to the point where they submitted. Tentatively the new release date is early 2012 however that is subject to change per the contract.

Ziggy Pop: First Spin: Listen to Puscifer's 'Conditions' LP Maynard James Keenan hit the studio tucked into his wine cellar hard this year and emerged with Conditions of My Parole, Puscifer’s second full studio album, which is available exclusively on SPIN.com a week before its official October 18-th release. "Musically, it's like Twin Peaks in the desert," Keenan tells SPIN of the LP, which was inspired by the vast, snake-infested outback surrounding his Northern Arizona vineyards. “You've got stories of ghosts and aliens, plus Republicans, Democrats, conservatives, liberals, vineyards, ranches, horses. It's hostile territory: You've got scorpions, black widows, brown recluse, javelina, rattlesnakes... and hippies." With 16 musicians listed in the liner notes, Conditions of My Parole was made with the assistance of Puscifer’s biggest posse yet. New contributors include ex-Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodor, L.A. songwriter Juliette Commagere, ASHES dIVIDE drummer Jeff Friedl and bassist Matt McJunkins, and Bat for Lashes percussionist Sarah Jones. There’s even room for some cello plucks from Keenan’s son Devo. Puscifer kick off their U.S. tour in November, and full details are available on the band's Facebook page.

Ziggy Pop: Maynard James Keenan Talks Puscifer, Dirty Words, and How the Band 311 Ruins His Wine October 18-th, 2011 Firstly, Maynard talks briefly about the release of the new Puscifer album Conditions of My Parole (which should be out now!). When asked about Tool he mentioned: - How many times a day does someone ask you about a new Tool record? - At least 20… Wait, what time is it? 22. Twenty-two times. For most people, where I started was there. Most people assume the success of anything I do is based on Tool, when they don’t realize that I was successful at things long before Tool. Tool didn’t get me in Westpoint, Tool didn’t get me distinguished graduate from basic training, Tool didn’t get me on the student council, and Tool didn’t get me my 12 varsity letters. But the public eye assumes that’s the thing I should be doing. Ziggy Pop: BUTCHER_2005_"Auricle" Original Release Date: May 27, 2005 Label: Air In Motion 01 Black Dahlia (10:07) 02 Elements Of Turandot (6:38) 03 Asta Aivaz Vina (2:41) 04 Side Of Man (7:08) 05 Run On Water (4:52) 06 Carousel To Zothyria (5:21) 07 Cold (8:48) http://ifolder.ru/26457264 Butcher: - Camella Grace - Sasha Popovic - Scott Reeder (Kyuss) Camella Grace helped co-direct the 1993 classic How To Operate Your Brain video. One of Timothy Leary's last lecture series. Butcher, Spiraleyes and More: an interview with Camella Grace Ray Carney has recently interviewed Camella Grace (Adam’s wife) and she talks about many things, including Spiral Eyes, Butcher and working on the videos for the Tool live shows. http://www.alterati.com/blog/?p=1030 First and foremost this album has a proper original feel to it, spit and polished it erupts at times, and then pulls back to give you a chance to recover, this is sometimes called a game of cat and mouse. The artwork, as should be expected from the artists involved, provokes hesitation in me. It is confrontational, but also very serene, very matter of fact, calming, and accepting. Black Dahlia >> This is the longest track to be found on Auricle. It is a very emotional song involving beautiful pianos and powerful lyrics that are directed at a murder, of which “Black Dahlia” is the victim. “Black Dahlia” (Elizabeth Short) was murdered, cut in half and mutilated, and found on January 15, 1947 in Hollywood where she was visiting at the time. The murder was never solved, but certain aspects of her life and death contribute to Los Angeles’ reputation as a failed, broken, sick excuse for the American Dream. In a particular sense, the explication of this song might lead one to believe it is also a metaphor for the dreams of individuals who venture to that altar in search of the grail of fame and fortune in the entertainment industry. Elements of Turandot >> Again, beautiful sounds grace us with this song, but it stands out for its juxtaposition of the song with faint whispers, and at a few points coincide with the lyrics being sung. There is a video included on the CD for this track. It is, again, directed by Camella Grace. Given her experience in film, she sets a beautiful watermark for her future efforts with this. I am not familiar with the opera by the title Turandot but it would stand to reason this song relates to it. Cold >> This track is not listed on the back of the album, nor are the lyrics included (the other songs do have their lyrics included); the credits are, however, included in the liner notes. A long instrumental build up for about the first five minutes of the song deliver us to a fitful end of the album. The lyrical focus seems to be on a death, possibly the Black Dahlia murder from the first track. Cold also utilizes justaposition, this time between the long instrumental march to the lyrical segment that ends it, as well as soft-sung lyrics broken up by high, long-held banshee wails (okay, anachronistic banshee wails). In early 2005, Butcher headed to the desert and went into the studio with their good friend and producer, Scott Reeder (Kyuss, Unida) to record their first album entitled Auricle. The recording process spanned several months and combined input from several musician friends including Scott Reeder, Ben Sherazi (Lotus Eater), Vince DeFranco and Blair MacKenzie Blake. The first release from Los Angeles-based band, BUTCHER is now available . Over the past couple of years, Butcher (Camella Grace, Sasha Popovic & Scott Reeder) has played several well-received shows in the Los Angeles area, but due to busy schedules and other factors, the project as originally envisioned by Sasha and Camella was never fully realized – that is until now, and with the addition of Scott Reeder (who engineered and co-produced "Auricle" ), the band is finally making the musical statement that was their initial intention. For their debut LP, the band sought artistic contributions from several musicians of diverse backgrounds, and the result makes for a sonic odyssey without bounds. This album is an absolute masterpiece. Beautiful in its stunningly ambient and dark atmosphere. "Butcher is a progressive rock band that was formed in North Hollywood in 2001 by Camella Grace and Sasha Popovic. Combining Camella's powerful yet ethereal vocals with their shared love of heavy music and monster riffs, they created the unique sound that is Butcher. In early 2005, Butcher headed to the California desert and went into the studio with their good friend and producer, Scott Reeder (Kyuss, Unida) to record their first album entitled Auricle. The recording process spanned several months and combined input from several musician friends including Scott Reeder, Ben Sherazi (Lotus Eater), Vince DeFranco and Blair MacKenzie Blake and Phillip Trujeque. Scott Reeder officially joined the band on bass after the recording of "Auricle" was completed. In October 2006 the band announced they were looking for a new bass player since Scott Reeder couldn't balance a 180 mile round trip to practice and back..." Autumn brings us the fall equinox along with the darkening of days and an appropriately timed Butcher show. I don't like art spoon-fed or obvious especially when it comes to my heavier audio appetites. Ditto for Butcher, fronted by avant-photographer-artiste Camella Grace (http://www.spiraleyes.com) and powered by the primal thunderism of drummer Sasha Popovic. Infiltrating the duo with his spatial guitar work is Phil Trujeque along with new bassist Joe Nagy. "Run On Water" is a teeth grinder, played on days when I've just had it with the struggle of all things mundane and need some fucking backup. Often ferocious yet filled with feminine power, Camella can wail like an aqueous siren or spit out a blistering metaphorical tirade ("Black Dahlia"). Don your cosmic armor and join her Joan of Arc-esque vocal crusade that simultaneously strokes a coiled serpent while weilding a deadly, beautiful sword. There will be little reprieve when these expressions blissfully shimmer around your aura and then relentlessly demand access into your skull. Veins of Butcher's influences do surface in the deep: brilliant stoner psychedelia a la Kyuss, mammoth Melvins bottom end and the sparse atmospherics of an experimental Dead Can Dance. But the band takes these mercurial elements and transmutes them into their own alchemical gold. And you don't get no gold without the fire, my friends, which is why you need to experience them live…now. Ziggy Pop: Tool opens with Intolerance at the Scientology Centre, Hollywood, CA 1992

Ziggy Pop: Danny records with Feersum Ennjin October 26th, 2011 Looks like in between playing with King Crimson, Volto! and writing Tool songs, Danny has found time to record a track with Feersum Ennjin called The Fourth. Here’s the story from Facebook: We’re moving the release date of "Feersum Ennjin" back to Nov. 22 so we can include a new song, "The Fourth." "The Fourth" was recorded very recently and reunited Paul with his former band mate, Danny Carey, for the first time since 1995′s Aenima.

Ziggy Pop: Maynard talks about Puscifer and updates us on A Perfect Circle & Tool October 27-th, 2011 Tool are reportedly working on a new album, as well. In the past, you’ve expressed frustration with sitting around in the studio with guitarist Adam Jones and drummer Danny Carey’s aesthetic of going over endless combinations of song structures before committing to anything. I’m allowing them their space to do what they do, so we’re still in that mode. Even if they told me how close they are to being done, I couldn’t tell you because if I say 60 percent people will start counting down. When it’s done everyone will know. But I haven’t done anything yet. They write forever and then we go in and knock it all out. We’re writing. We’re writing vocals. But nothing’s solid. With Puscifer, there’s ideas and then we’ll record stuff. Then we’ll go back and change stuff and fix stuff and record new stuff before we finally put it all together. But with Tool, we practice jams, but there’s no actual recording going on until it’s time to record. Are you prepared to tour for a year for the next Tool record whenever it’s ready or have you put your foot down and said, “I don’t want to spend my life on the road.” It has nothing to do with putting my foot down. Physically, I can’t do it, so that’s not gonna happen. We will tour, but it won’t be the old school dog and pony show of 8 months of beating yourself to death. For most bands now, staying out on the road for a year-plus and selling lots of tickets and merch is the only way to make money because their albums are being downloaded for free by file-sharers. How much do you need, really? If we can make a living going out for a few weeks a year and keep people satisfied by making sure we play the locations we need to hit, I’m not Kirk Hammett. I don’t need to buy $10,000 guitars every day. That’s not my lifestyle. I love Kirk, but that’s not me. I have a very sustainable vineyard industry in the Valley which will eventually start to pay its own bills. I love to go on the road and play music for people and express myself, but for it to be something where I’m out there to make money, that’s depressing to me. You end up beating yourself up. Who gives a s–t how much money you have if your back hurts so much you can’t stand up. Money’s not the goal. Having fun making the art, that’s the goal. Finding a nice, happy medium. Being healthy and still expressing what you need to express in an effective way, that’s the ideal. full interview: http://loudwire.com/maynard-james-keenan-interview-puscifer-a-perfect-circle-tool/

NEWSLETTER ADDENDUM - ONE PARAGRAPH For those of you who didn't read the second paragraph in the current newsletter, please note that I've ADDED the words, "for these VOLTO! sessions..." to the first paragraph. Hopefully this will put a stop to all the phone calls, email, and tweets from those Sentinelese Tool fans (or were they Jarawa?) who claim to have read something on other websites about "Tool starting the recording of their new album." According to the tweet, one website (whose writer apparently skipped the second paragraph?) supposedly actually stated that "we've been assured that the information is indeed accurate." WHAT? WHAT? As I replied to the Jarawa fellow (or was he a Jangil? - I can't keep up with all these people), I find it VERY HARD TO BELIEVE that anyone would write that when it should have been quite obvious that the band doing the recording at the loft was Volto!, and NOT Tool (Read the 2nd paragraph, Sentinelese Tool fans ). If I say that song after song were being knocked out - and that the songs were nearly finished, save for a few overdubs... and then in the next sentence comment about how Tool are still writing and arranging their new songs, why would anyone think that it was Tool that was recording (let alone, cranking out all the tunes) that night? So I'm not accused of being a marketing master, once again - it was VOLTO! doing the recording. By now, even dead elephants should know that. Even the girls missing in Auruba should know that. Even that dude from Oroville knows that!

Ziggy Pop: Tool 1994-11-11 San Francisco, -Rare- Uncirculated *FULL SHOW Full Show. First time ever shown from Master Source 01 Intolerance 02 Bottom 03 Stinkfist 04 Undertow 05 Swamp Song 06 Sober 07 4 degrees 08 Pushit 09 Disgustipated 10 Prison Sex 11 Cold & Ugly 12 No Quarter (Led Zeppelin cover) 13 Opiate Highlights include: - Stinkfist with total voice distortion throughout (just a reminder to those who think it is a new thing due to voice constraints...this is from 94) - amazing audio considering when this was recorded - early version of Pushit with totally different lyrics (I guess you would call this the original, not the album one) - DISGUSTIPATED, the best version I've seen online Stinkfist Notes: This recording has the honor of being the earliest known/traded recording of Tool's pre-AEnima-era as they try out different mixes of songs. Although the shows prior to this, most notably 11.08.94, had the actual live debuts of AEnima era songs, this may be as good as it gets. The fan does get a taste of what the initial debuts were like. One thing, it is rather interested to me that the only recording of this to make it's way out into the trade circle is a video. I know for a fact that this was recorded with a D3 but that has not leaked out at least as of early 2005. As it is, there are some odd/weird effects on MJK's voice on Stinkfist w/totally different lyrics, Pushit is very short & is melded with Disgustipated. Disgustipated for Christ's sake! Awesome. Although there are some issues with the sound going in/out during the first 2 songs, this actually is fixed later on. Although the video is not fantastic, there are some actual good qualities about the recording. See for yourself. Very interesting show, all around. A little tape hiss but it is not really all that bad, takes a little while to get used to though. Because of that fact, this may be best left for collectors. Decent sound/picture for a 3 gen. During an intermission, someone starts talking to the recorder & asks about his taping set-up. Amusing....the taper gets quite annoyed. What a setlist! Highly recommended.

Ziggy Pop: да, это тот самый концерт со свиньей в конце, аххахахаха Jerk Off нереально красива ближе к финалу перед песней: ‘Don’t put your tongue on that, you don’t know where it has been. OK, we’ll do another song. We don’t normally do this song because people interpreted at ? so. See there’s a difference between hate and anger. Anger is constructive emotion; hatred is not, it’s destructive. And rather then acting out on a violence instead we scream our heads off and play loud music, that way nobody gets hurt. So keep that in mind when we play this song, that’s not a violent fucking somebody up it’s about being very angry at the point where you have to scream about it rather than do something about it.
