Ziggy Pop: MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN TEASES 2014 TOOL ALBUM + NEW MATERIAL FROM A PERFECT CIRCLE AND PUSCIFER Fantastic news from Mr. Maynard James Keenan! The anticipation for new Tool and A Perfect Circle material has left countless Keenan fans shivering in the fetal position. However, the singer has just hinted at news that Tool fans have been waiting for with bated breath. It’s no secret that out of Maynard Keenan’s three current musical projects, Puscifer have been his top priority in terms of new releases. In fact, Puscifer have put out a total of nine releases since both Tool and A Perfect Circle delivered their last offerings. Fans of Tool and A Perfect Circle have been hounding Keenan about new songs for the better part of a decade, and the vocalist offered a response over the weekend. On Sept. 7, Keenan took to Puscifer’s Instagram account to post the following: For my 666th IG photo, I’d just like to say… Music is happening on ALL fronts. Always. #lightenupfrancis#shitupandletmework #tool2014 @aperfectcircle @tool @puscifer During our latest interview with Tool drummer Danny Carey, the master percussionist also stated that 2014 would likely be the year of Tool. “Right now, since we haven’t started tracking stuff at this point, it’ll be hard,” Carey shares about a 2013 Tool release. “We could have the record finished by the end of the year — that’s a possibility, but the logistics of getting it manufactured and getting the record company in line and all this stuff, I doubt we’ll be able to get it out before Christmas. We’ll see how it goes. Most likely, it’ll be early 2014.” As for A Perfect Circle, Pause and Play is reporting that the band is scheduled to release a new album, ‘Three-Sixty,’ on Nov. 19. But more than likely that’s a mix-up, as it was just announced that APC are in fact releasing a box set collection of rarities, live performances and more titled ‘A Perfect Circle Live: Featuring Stone and Echo,’ which will drop Nov. 26. Get excited, people! And stay tuned for more Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer updates as news continues to break.

The release also includes A Perfect Circle’s first new original, studio recording in a decade with the inclusion of “By And Down,” a song written after the band returned from their self-imposed hiatus for a series of live performances throughout 2010 and 2011. "Billy and I created A Perfect Circle out of a now long-running friendship, and I think the music we have made reflects that personal connection and has given us the ability to further develop and trust our intuition,” explained Keenan. “I feel THREE SIXTY is an accurate representation of that friendship and those instincts." A Perfect Circle also recently announced the release of a limited edition box set titled A Perfect Circle Live: Featuring Stone And Echo. Ziggy Pop: Q&A: Maynard James Keenan Knows Where to Score a Good Wig He also talks new Puscifer and A Perfect Circle projects “I think that can be kind of weird sometimes, when you see “the greatest hits,” no, no – “the greatest greatest hits.” Releases by a record label that the band had nothing to do with, and there’s several versions of the same thing, over and over again. That’s kind of why we did the DVD and the box set. If you’re going to release a greatest hits, we should also offer something that’s not just the old recordings, rearranged.” MJK RS

Ziggy Pop: TOOL’S ADAM JONES REVEALS PLANS FOR NEW ’10,000 DAYS’ MUSIC VIDEOS October 3, 2013 10:32 AM The current talking point of Tool fanatics is, of course, the experimental act’s next album. However, it seems like the band, or at least guitarist Adam Jones, is actually working on a new music video for a track off Tool’s 2006 studio album, ’10,000 Days.’ Tool is a band that constantly surprises its fans. Each new album, music video and even album packaging runs on unpredictability, but even by Tool’s standards, this update from Jones can’t help but turn heads. The axeman recently took part in a Guitar World Q&A session with fans, where he spoke about future videos for ’10,000 Days’ material. Adam Jones has been the creative force behind the bulk of Tool’s videography, although he did not direct the clip for ‘Vicarious,’ the sole ’10,000 Days’ track to receive a music video. When asked why there hadn’t been an Adam Jones video for a song from ’10,000 Days,’ the guitarist offered a fascinating answer: "There are, we just haven’t finished them yet. We ran into a really big snag because the first video is all CGI [computer-generated imaging] and we had some vicious production problems. The company we started with kinda screwed us, but luckily my friend’s company is bailing us out. Since he’s helping us, they can only work on it when their schedule is clear. But it’s gonna be great. When I go home, practically all my time is spent on it. I thought the CGI process would be a lot easier than physically filming something, which is what we’ve always done in the past. But it’s actually a lot harder to get action down and get it moving and looking right. Plus, you can say, “The character has 15 eye lashes. Can he have 16?” You can get super picky. So at some point you have to shoot for 100 percent and try to get 70. We’re also doing pre-production on the second video, which will be all stop-motion." Adam Jones also shared some info on Tool’s prior plans to create a live DVD along with working with film legend John Carpenter: “Yeah, we’ve talked about it. We had shot a bunch of live concert footage and were going to put out a DVD, but it turned out to not sit very well with our band. We were like, What can we do that’s more epic than just a live DVD? I think we’re just going to keep shooting stuff, and when we’re ready, we’ll put something out. Of course, we’d like to do something really epic, like the movie version of The Wall, but movie deals are really tough. Here’s a hilarious example: [director] John Carpenter was putting out Escape from L.A. and they wanted an original Tool song. We said, “Well, you’re not getting an original, but maybe we’ll give you an older one.” But then we realized John Carpenteris a musician. So we were like, “Wait, let’s do a song with John Carpenter!” [laughs] The last thing we heard was the studio wanted half the rights to the song, our record company wanted the other half and John Carpenter’s people wanted the other half. [laughs] So we were like, “Ah, f—k it!” and gave them an older tune. Basically, there’s a lot of red tape in trying to get a movie made. But if we can—or if there’s anyone out there that wants to facilitate a Tool movie—I’m totally open to it.” http://loudwire.com/tool-adam-jones-new-10000-days-music-videos/
