Ziggy Pop: METALLICA’S JAMES HETFIELD PERFORMS WITH CHILDREN AT CHARITY EVENT Little Kids Rock, a non-profit organization with the goal of expanding the public school system’s music programs, has honored Metallica’s James Hetfield at their annual “Rockin’ The Bay Benefit” on Saturday. As part of the event, James got on stage and performed with a number of children. “We’re presenting James with this special award as a way to not only recognize his support of Little Kids Rock over the years, but also his role as an inspirational presence in a band that has revolutionized and defined a music genre,” said David Wish, Little Kids Rock founder and executive director. “Josef was a passionate philanthropist who touched our lives with his generosity and we know he would’ve been proud to see James honored at the event held in his memory.”

Ziggy Pop: METALLICA TO LET FANS PICK SETLIST & DEBUT NEW SONG ON EUROPEAN TOUR From Metallica.com: After spending the better part of the last couple of years making our film Through The Never, we are so ready to make another album… it’s been far too long! And when we’re locked away in the studio, history has dictated that we always need that inspirational break to soak up all the great live Metalli-energy that you guys bring to the gigs. So as we may have done once or twice before (!!), we will be hitting the road this summer, but not just for another “European vacation”… we’ve added a twist – YOU PICK THE SET LIST!! As we embark on two short treks through Europe, we’re going to give you, the ticket holders, the chance to vote on what songs you would like to hear at the show(s) that you attend. It will be pretty simple… pick up your ticket(s) online and you’ll receive an e-mail shortly after with a code and a link to a site on which you may cast your ballot. We normally play around 18 songs a night, and since we didn’t want to be left out of the fun, the band also gets to vote . . . and we vote for a NEW SONG! That leaves the other 17 slots for you to choose, so vote for all your favorites from the close to 140 songs we’ve recorded in our career and to make it more fun along the way, you’ll be able to follow what you and your fellow fans are selecting by watching the site for continuous results. In true Metallica fashion, we don’t have all the shows ready for you just yet, but here are a few dates to get you started: June 4, 2014 – Imtech Arena, Sonisphere – Hamburg, Germany, tickets on sale November 29 at 10:00 AM local time June 5-8, 2014 – Rock Am Ring – Nürburgring, Germany, tickets on sale November 27 at 9:00 AM local time June 6-9, 2014 – Rock Im Park – Nürnberg, Germany, tickets on sale November 27 at 9:00 AM local time Tickets will be available at www.eventim.de.

Ziggy Pop: METALLICA TO PLAY SHOW IN ANTARCTICA? October 23, 2013 According to Coca-Cola’s Columbian website, collecting three labels of 250ml Coca-Cola Zero bottles and mailing them in will enter you in the chance for a trip to see Metallica play live in Antarctica. The contest runs from October 14th – November 9th and the Metallica concert will occur sometime between December 2nd – December 15th. Unfortunately, fans outside of Colombia are ineligible to enter. Last month, Lars Ulrich may have alluded to the event during an interview with a San Francisco radio station: “There’s a very interesting thing coming our way in December . . . There’s another frontier heading in Metallica’s direction in December. Which, if anybody (at the band’s management) even knew that I just said what I just said, they would hunt me down and silence me. But there is another frontier coming in December, which we’re very excited about.” Setlist: Creeping Death For Whom the Bell Tolls Sad But True Welcome Home (Sanitarium) Master of Puppets One Blackened Nothing Else Matters Enter Sandman Seek & Destroy

Ziggy Pop: Metallica’s acoustic set from the 10th Annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit Last night (May 12), the 10th Annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert was held at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. Black Sabbath legend Ozzy Osbourne and Village Studios owner / CEO Jeff Greenberg were the night’s honorees, but Metallica were also an important part of the show, performing a four-song set of classic covers. During the MusiCares benefit, Ozzy was given the Stevie Ray Vaughn Award for the Sabbath singer’s commitment to help individuals who struggle with addiction. “I know firsthand about the ravages of addiction and I also know that the MusiCares MAP Fund is a vital safety net for people in the music industry who need help with substance abuse,” says Osbourne. “This organization literally saves lives.” Metallica were later added to the event’s bill, which already included Ozzy’s solo band featuring Slash as a guest guitarist. “It’s no secret that Ozzy has been a major presence throughout our entire lives,” stated Metallica, “and we are so humbled and honored to be with Ozzy for this special evening.” Metallica’s four-song acoustic set began with Rare Earth’s ‘I Just Want to Celebrate’ before the thrash legends dove into ‘When a Blind Man Cries’ by Deep Purple. Rounding off the performance, Metallica concluded by covering the Beatles‘ ‘In My Life’ and Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Diary of a Madman.’
