Ziggy Pop: SOUNDGARDEN’S FIRST SINGLE OFF OF NEW ALBUM WILL BE ‘BEEN AWAY TOO LONG’ Soundgarden have sent out their new single “Been Away Too Long” to some radio stations, and many hope to debut it this weekend. There is screaming and loud guitars in the song. The song is the lead single off of the band’s new album King Animal, which also features Worse Dreams, Blood on the Valley Floor, and A Thousand Days Before. The album will be released on November 13th, with a tour to follow.

Riotous album opener and first single “Been Away Too Long” finds Soundgarden back at it with a double-edged blast of homecoming celebration and urban angst. King Animal can be explosive, as in “Blood On The Valley Floor,” nightmarish (“Worse Dreams”) or wistful (“Halfway There”), leading us through changing sonic landscapes that can embrace both the jazz inflections of “Black Saturday” and the feral rocker “Attrition,” with compelling lyrics by bassist Ben Shepherd. The subject matter is broad – Kim Thayil’s lyrics for “Non-State Actor” are a sharp and cynical take on the powers behind political thrones, while Cornell’s bruised and introspective “Bones of Birds” explores the terrors and vulnerabilities of parenthood. The band co-produced their sixth studio album with longtime Soundgarden friend and producer Adam Kasper (Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Pearl Jam) and recorded at Studio X in Seattle. King Animal was mixed by Joe Barresi (The Melvins, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool) in Pasadena, California.

Philosopher: ничего гениального от них не ждал, в духе их альбома 1996 года, есть интересные моменты и всё на этом.

Для меня 96 года пластинка является самой любимой у них, а не Badmotorfinger или, например, Superunknown Philosopher пишет: есть интересные моменты и всё на этом хорош релиз, думал, все будет гораздо хуже. Так что доволен. Интересные моменты имеются, да, играть не разучились, что тоже радует. В целом - молодцы. Ziggy Pop: скажу сейчас совсем крамольную вещь, но (понимаю, что мыслить подобного рода категориями - бред конечно же, но все же) этот альбом-возвращение мне греет душу и радует ГОРАЗДО сильнее, чем тупая, сраная, уебищная, беспонтовая Oceania от Билли Коргана
