Other musicians who appear on the cd include Lapland Miclovik, Mike Dillon, Sam Bass, Paulo Baldi, Cage Claypool, and Bryonn Bain. One was for an interactive game about a meteor that hits Earth and brings intelligence to the mushrooms within the crash proximity and the other was about a three thousand pound wild boar that terrorizes the marijuana fields of Northern California. Obviously the makers of the subsequent MUSHROOM MEN game and PIG HUNT film were very aware of my tastes and perspectives because the music oozed from me in such a natural way that I believe it came as much from my pores as it did my mind. Ziggy Pop: As the mustachioed one (Eugene Hutz) announced last week at Brooklyn Bowl, Gogol Bordello will hit the road for a string of dates with the great Primus, tagging Williamsburg Waterfront on 7/30 along the way. Tickets for the Brooklyn show go on sale Friday at noon with an AEG/Radio/venue presale kicking off at 10AM a day earlier. The Waterfront show is less than two months after Primus bassist Les Claypool plays his own show at Brooklyn Bowl with Hot Head Show. Tickets are still available for the June 8th show, and the Wellmont Theater show three days before that. После Примуса это было очень интересно - увидеть немного иную сторону и грани таланта Клэйпула. Он не играет на басу, он им живёт и дышит, прямо как Фли из Red Hot Chili Peppers. Круче их обоих на басу никто в мире не играет, имхо. В будущем - возможно кто-то и появится, но на данный момент - только они двое рулят. бас-гитарист и лидер-вокалист, наиболее известный по группе альтернативного рока Primus. Имеет индивидуальный стиль игры на бас-гитаре, в котором присутствуют элементы тяжёлого фанка Родился и вырос в Калифорнии в рабочей семье. В подростковом возрасте проникся рок-музыкой таких исполнителей как Led Zeppelin и Jimi Hendrix, чему поспособствовал его одноклассник Кирк Хэммет (позже ставший гитаристом Metallica). С 14 лет играет на басу. В 1986 году, при выборе бас-гитариста Metallica на место погибшего Клиффа Бёртона, Клейпул прошёл прослушивание, но не был выбран. Джеймс Хэтфилд аргументировал это тем, что Лес не стал их басистом, так как "был слишком хорош". попиливал на басу на 4-ёх альбомах Тома Уэйтса и вообще он трудоголик, как Майк Паттон или Джош Хомм, всем помогает, куча сторонних проектов и т.д. Ziggy Pop: Primus перезаряжают батарейки!! Культовые «безгитарные» американцы Primus возвращаются к поклонникам после долгого перерыва. Как поведал в одном из своих недавних интервью бессменный лидер команды Лес Клейпул (Les Claypool), Primus не только проведут обширное концертное турне этого года, но и намереваются по его завершении отправиться в студию – для записи нового альбома. Напомним, что последняя на сегодня студийная работа Primus «Antipop» датируется далеким 1999-м годом. Релиз ее последователя Клейпул прогнозирует на 2011-й. Что касается вышеупомянутого тура, то гастроли Primus – вместе с младшими коллегами Gogol Bordello и Wolfmother на борту – стартуют 27 июля в Торонто и продлятся по середину сентября. В рамках этой гастрольной поездки Клейпул сотоварищи отыграют 16 шоу. свершилось!!! услышал бог, тьфу, то есть Клэйпул мольбы поклонников=)) новый альбом, а-а-а-а!!! HELL FUCKIN' YEAH !!

Ziggy Pop: Primus & The Melvins Melbourne show October 21st, 2010 Just announced on Fasterlouder is the following cool show on the 3rd of March at The Palais in Melbourne: Primus fans the world over were thrown into fits of sporadic air-bass when the influential US rockers announced in April that after a five year hiatus they were back in business. It seemed only logical that the band would eventually be nabbed by one of our summer festivals, and Soundwave ended up being the perfect fit. In addition to their performances at Soundwave the band has just announced that they will be playing a one-off Sidewave in Melbourne as well. Ziggy Pop: A message from Les Claypool: “Hello there folks. First off I just want to say how fantastic it is seeing the support that has been put forth for my brother and his family. Little Matthew is plugging away and though he has got a long way to go, it appears he is a tough little fellow with a lot of heart. Keep your eyes peeled for a special show in his honor and for his benefit in the Santa Cruz area in the near future. Since the New Year’s Shows there has been a lot of speculation about my new four string bass that I was sporting. What I played at those shows was a semi-finished prototype bass that I designed and had built by my old pal Dan Maloney. I’ve known Dan since high school and in fact it was he that drove all of us to my first concert: Rush, Hemispheres Tour, Cow Palace. I slammed three beers and threw up in the parking lot. Those were the days. Dan is also known in our camp as the guy that built my banjo bass or “The Banji”. The design is something I’ve been working on for quite some time. Having had the opportunity to play many exceptional instruments over the years I’ve been able to incorporate elements of some of my favorites. Besides my own design fanciness, it is part Fender Jazz Bass, Precision, Rickenbacker 4001, Carl Thompson, Jaguar E-Type (yes, the car) and a bit of Dr. Suess. I’ve been playing it everyday in the studio and I must say it is the smoothest bass to play and it has a very punchy sound. I’ve never had such an easy time getting bass tones in the studio before. At this point I am refining the shape and, much to Dan’s chagrin, I’ve been carving away at it with my fancy new Japanese files and rasps to get it to conform to the body in the most comfortable way. I am a picky bastard and for me to put my Carl Thompson aside, this has got to be an exceptional instrument. Some may wonder why I didn’t have Carl make the instrument and the answer is that Carl is a unique artist and his designs stand on their own. Carl’s instruments are beautiful because they are all unique unto themselves. He is the Picasso of bass design and in my opinion, the best bass luthier on the planet. Ideally some of these instruments I’m developing will be available at some point but I want to work with and refine the bass for a while before we start selling them. These will be quality instruments and quality takes time, care and fancy materials (mine has diamonds in the neck). If interested, keep your eyes peeled for further developments. The Primus record is nearly done. For those of you that enjoyed the new song, “Last Salmon Man“, that we played New Year’s, you’ll love the record because every song basically sounds exactly the same as that one. In fact, we just kept recording the same song over and over and I would just change a few of the lyrics around. I hear that’s the way Pink Floyd used to do it and those guys are no slouches. (My manager got bent out of shape for me writing that last bit about the record and he wanted me to change it so, here is what I’m changing it to…) The Primus record is nearly done. Every song is pretty much a variation of “Don’t Fear the Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult. Everyone should buy two copies. Anyhow, I’ll see you all in Australia. Ziggy Pop: Primus To Release New Album In September Primus have set “Green Naugahyde” as the title to their new album which will now see a September 13th release date through Prawn Songs/ATO Records. The full press release on the effort can be found below: “ATO Records and Prawn Songs are excited to announce that Primus will be releasing its first studio album in 11 years on September 13, 2011. Titled Green Naugahyde, the record was produced and engineered by Les Claypool in his personal studio, Rancho Relaxo, in Northern California, and features Claypool, long-time guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Jay Lane. Lane was in an early lineup of the band, and was also in Sausage, a 1994 reunion of the 1988 Primus lineup. Green Naugahyde expands on Primus‘ incomparable sound and also sees them bringing it into the next millennium. It is a cerebral and complex album that, like all of the band’s output, is teeming with the band’s signature blend of whimsy and underlying darkness. Obviously, with Jay there’s a newness to it, but because he left the band right before we recorded our first record, his approach has an eerie harkening to the old Frizzle Fry days.” Like Primus‘ early output before they were international superstars, there was no earth-shattering catalyst behind Green Naugahyde other than the fact that all three of these musicians-and life-long collaborators who have worked together in various contexts-were getting the itch to experiment again. “There wasn’t a lot of pre-thought to this as much as, ‘Oh here we are, we should make a record,’” explains Claypool. “I’ve been playing with Jay quite a lot over the past 10 years and we have an intuitive bond, so for me he was a natural choice to be back in the mix,” Claypool continues when asked how Lane came about rejoining the band after nearly two decades apart. Claypool and LaLonde concur that Lane injected the band with a new energy that’s evident in every note of Green Naugahyde. “We recorded this album in the same way we always do but having Jay there made this a whole different experience,” explains LaLonde. “It definitely made it more collaborative and it made us excited about the album as we went along because we had so much fun in the process.” For the past 27 years, Primus have followed in the footsteps of boundary-pushing artists like Frank Zappa and Pink Floyd to create some of the most original and inventive music in existence. Green Naugahyde is a Primus record with all of the magic and mystery that phrase entails-and while no one can say for sure what the future will hold in store for the band, the most important thing is that the album exists and will inevitably hold its own in the band’s impressive cannon of music. “Even back in the old days people would always ask me, ‘How long is Primus going to go on’ and I would always say ‘It’s going to go until it’s not fun anymore’ and at the end of the day it just wasn’t fun anymore so we stopped,” Claypool explains. “I think giving it this much time to sit and ferment or whatever the hell you want to call it has made it fun again,” he summarizes with a laugh. After dates at Bonnaroo and Red Rocks with the Flaming Lips, Primus will hit the road in September with a major fall tour in support of Green Naugahyde.”

Directed by Jordan Copeland (son of Police drummer Stewart Copeland), the clip sports a fittingly eerie vibe as it siwtches between shots of the band playing live and grainy found footage of family life, with a holiday theme. Ziggy Pop: Dean Ween and Les Claypool are teaming up for some reality fishing show According to NJ.com, Deaner (real name Mickey Melchiondo) will be shooting a pilot for a ‘quirky’ show that will mix his love of fishing with music and comedy. The show will feature Melchiondo and Claypool as they head out each week and fish in exotic locations with a special celebrity guest. The show will be produced by South Park masterminds Matt Parker and Trey Stone and Melchiondo shares that the goal is to get the program on after Anthony Bourdain: No Reservationsor Tosh .O. The former Ween guitarist claims that the show is “…a fishing show that you do not have to be into fishing to enjoy.” The plan is for him and Claypool to create the soundtrack for the show as well. No word as to when this show will actually make it on the air, but we will keep you updated. In the event you want to catch Les Claypool in the not so distant future, he will tour the west coast with his Duo De Twang outfit later this year. The deluxe edition will feature the album’s new stereo mix on CD and the new 5.1 surround mix on Blu-ray or DVD, plus three exclusive, previously unreleased bonus tracks, including two live recordings from Primus’ 2012 “3D Tour” and a Bassnectar Remix of “Here Come The Bastards.” A 200-gram vinyl LP to be released on the same date also features Claypool’s new stereo mix of the album. In a “Mystery Vinyl” challenge for fans, 1000 unmarked, randomly selected copies will contain the new stereo mix on a yellow vinyl LP instead of black.
