Ziggy Pop: Wrestlers Melissa Anderson and Shelly Martinez released promos yesterday in advance of Friday’s taping of the Smashing Pumpkins’ video for Owata.

Ziggy Pop: The Smashing Pumpkins filmed their video for “Owata” last night at the Eagles Club in Berwyn, Illinois, with Robby Starbuck directing. For all the details on the matches and filming, check out wrestling website Dirty Dirty Sheets’ report on the evening’s events. The main feature was Melissa Anderson vs. Shelly Martinez and Raven, with Anderson emerging victorious. Original G.L.O.W. girl Little Egypt served as MC for the evening’s festivities. In the breaks during filming, Billy Corgan, Nicole Fiorentino, and Mike Byrne favored Pumpkins fans with photo ops, and Corgan performed “Disarm,“ “Nowhere Man,” and “1979” impromptu on the club’s piano. HU reader Scott was lucky enough to attend and emailed us this report: Billy, Nicole and Mike were there watching the whole thing from the seats. Billy seemed to be in work mode, at times going back stage or talking with the director… I talked briefly with Nicole and Mike. Nicole said that she’s still mixing the Cold and Lovely record and wouldn’t get back to it till Oceania was done. She said she’d be in Chicago a couple more weeks. Mike said that he was almost done with drum tracks for Oceania and that he’d put down drums for 12 songs. I asked where Jeff was and Nicole said he wasn’t in Chicago yet, but was flying in next week to start working on guitars.

Ziggy Pop: Corgan to perform solo for ‘Chicago Live!’ radio program in July Billy Corgan will record an interview and acoustic performance for Chicago Live!, a stage and radio show co-produced by the Chicago Tribune and the Second City. The taping, to be done before a live audience, is scheduled for Thursday, July 21 at the Chicago Theatre Downstairs. Tickets are already on sale through TicketMaster and the Chicago Theatre box office. Ziggy Pop: Bob Ludwig remasters ‘Gish’ // Friday, August 5, 2011 Acclaimed mastering engineer Bob Ludwig of Gateway Mastering has finished work on an impending reissue of the Smashing Pumpkins album Gish, part of that band’s archives project. Ludwig has previously worked with, well, uh, everyone. Here’s a bit of an interview from 2003 in which Ludwig talks shop: MusicTAP: What is the usual process from when Gateway is contacted for a project to the final release? Bob Ludwig: Someone calls us and schedules a day I can work on their record. Either I do it alone, or the producer and sometimes, artists attend. The day arrives, I listen to their raw tape and hear in my head how I think it could sound. I turn the knobs on the right gear to make it sound like I hear it in my head. I master it, discuss if any remixing needs to be done and do any further editing that needs to be done. When the artist, producer, A&R person and the manager all agree I have gotten as much musicality out of their original master tape as possible, the approved master is copied to the appropriate medium desired by the plant (PCM 1630, exabyte DDP tape, Pre-master CD-R, or Yellow Book CD-ROM). The actual parts going to the plant are quality controlled from top to bottom by one of my engineers, usually with headphones to catch problems one can’t hear in speakers, and notes are made of any abnormal sounds that are in fact approved.
