'Cause it sounds too good to be true. Philosopher пишет: ok, have to go soundcheck now...we are gonna work up all my songs for tonght's show!

Ziggy Pop: Smashing Pumpkins do the legend proud at casino Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins perform at Wild Horse Pass Casino's Ovations Live! Showroom on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010 by Ed Masley - Dec. 9, 2010 10:59 AM The Arizona Republic The cult of Billy Corgan haters may not want to grant him much of anything at this point. But if Corgan feels the need to try and keep the Smashing Pumpkins name and legacy alive without involving anyone who helped him build that legacy in the long-gone days of "Siamese Dream," at least he did his best to do the legend justice Wednesday night, Dec. 8, at Wild Horse Pass casino, investing himself in a crowd-pleasing marathon set. The Pumpkins' leader may have parted ways with drummer Jimmy Chamberlin over the issue of what constitutes an "oldies act" and whether Smashing Pumpkins should become one. But that didn't stop him from treating the crowd to inspired performances of such Modern Rock radio staples as "Cherub Rock," "Today," "Bullet with Butterfly Wings," "Tonight, Tonight," "Ava Adore" and "Stand Inside Your Love" in the course of a two-hour set whose more explosive moments made it feel as much like 1994 as any music could. He even played "Disarm," on acoustic guitar, after telling the crowd, "You're supposed to play all the songs you're supposed to play. But I don't want to play all the songs I'm supposed to play. So I didn't think I wanted to play this song tonight, but I really appreciate you listening to our show tonight. We've played in front of a lot of audiences. . . . Audiences are different all over the world. But there's one thing that matters most to us, which is the respect to actually listen to what we're doing, so thank you so much for that tonight. I really appreciate it. And I'd like to dedicate this song to all of you." It's not unusual, of course, for an artist to try to make the audience feel special. But this didn't feel like showmanship or pandering. It felt like Corgan being genuinely moved by the reception he'd been getting to a set that wasn't shy about calling attention to his latest work. They'd opened with "The Fellowship" from "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope Vol. 2: The Solstice Bare," setting the tone for the concert with a chorus that demanded, "Are you with us or against us tonight?" And then, after giving nostalgia its due with a raucous performance of "Bullet With Butterfly Wings," it was back to more recent material with the intense garage-rock swagger of "Tarantula" from 2007's "Zeitgeist" album and two psychedelic treasures from "Teargarden" - "My Love is Winter," which featured a dual guitar lead with second guitarist Jeff Schroeder after each guitarist took his own lead, and the Zeppelin-does-Donovan ballad, "A Song for a Son." By the time he sang "I used to be a little boy" on "Disarm," he'd made his way through several other recent songs, from the punkish abandon of "As Rome Burns" to "Spangled" (which featured a finger-picked guitar part that echoed the Beatles' later work), the upbeat '60s pop of "Tom Tom" and "United States" (again, from "Zeitgeist"). The new kids definitely earned their keep, with 20-year-old drummer Mike Byrne attacking the kit with authority and a thundering approach that said his favorite drummer was John Bonham long before they'd made their way around to covering Led Zeppelin's "Moby Dick" (although everyone leaving the stage so he could do a proper solo may have been a bit much). And Nicole Fiorentino brought a heavy bass groove to such raucous highlights as "United States" and "Freak." What really made the concert feel like something special, though, was Corgan, who, despite his reputation as a temperamental artist, proved a warm, contagious, funny onstage presence - interacting with his bandmates, grinning like a schoolboy, flicking his guitar picks to the balcony and joking about how the next day's reviews would say Corgan had "lectured" the crowd about crowd-surfing during a rambling, hilarious monologue about crowd-surfing fans in their 30-s. "It's not a Pearl Jam video, you know what I mean?" Corgan joked. "It's 2010." It is 2010. And that's where Corgan's head and heart are. But on Wednesday night, at least, it seemed as though he'd made at least some kind of peace with the days when those fans who'd come to see a hero of their teenage days could crowd-surf like nobody's business.

Ziggy Pop: Interview of Corgan loved by Corgan In a tweet this morning (http://twitter.com/Billy/status/12905725994991617#), Billy Corgan expressed his ardor for an interview conducted with him last week and published in full today by George Varga of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Varga asks about Corgan’s new-defunct website Everything from Here to There, his still-going album Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, what it takes to be in the Smashing Pumpkins, and more. Following is an excerpt — better read in context, but that stands alone well enough — about the separation of artwork and artist: [George Varga:] Pablo Picasso was, by all accounts, a total jerk who treated most people like dirt. Does that make his art less great or notable? Should we separate the art from the person who made it? [Billy Corgan:] I think the art is the only thing that matters. I’m not saying the life of the artist shouldn’t be examined. But to put the life of the artist as the equal of the art is coming from the audience or the ‘perceiver,’ not from people who really understand art. Let’s say you and I are taking a hike and I’ve just finished telling you what a horrible person I am. But at the end I tell you a parable that is the greatest parable you’ve ever heard. Does it diminish the parable because I’m a piece of [shit]? No. It might have more value because I’m a piece of [shit]. The modern world is very focused on negative aspects of the artist, because it’s part of some marketing campaign. When the personality is more important, you have a problem; the work will not hold up with time, but you get what you pay for. If you need to believe that Radiohead would hang out with you at Starbucks because they’re good guys – and I’m not picking on them — if that’s what you need (to believe), I won’t argue with it. But I don’t get that. I think it’s really juvenile. I’m in the Duke Ellington school of thought, that there’s good music and bad music. I don’t know what kind of guy Howlin’ Wolf was, but I know the kind of guy I think he was.

вот, кстати, по сабжу, пару дней назад вычитал: before twitter, i didn't realize how much of a goon he was. now i can't stand the fucker. what a piece of shit. fuck him and fuck his shitty band.

On Facebook, Billy Corgan mentions old studio takes on “Gossamer,” “99 Floors,” and “Peace and Love,” and discusses “the inevitable Zeitgeist reissue” amongst other future releases: “The ‘plan’ is to line up everything business wise so that EVERYTHING substantial and worthy of release would see the light of day.”

Ziggy Pop: as for 99 floors/peace and love and others from that time there are live solo studio demo versions recorded in Sweden just after the SF residency. they sound really good and could easily be added to/overdubed. those would see the light of day when the inevitable Zeitgeist re-issue comes out. i get full rights back to Zwan/Future Embrace/Zeit in about 4 years Zwan would be first up. 60+ unreleased songs. BC: we have discussed recording Gossamer for Teargarden, but my guess is it probably won't happen as it is essentially seen by me as a Zeitgeist song. there is an aborted Zeitgeist sessions versions that is kinda cool, albeit rough and unfinished Госсамер...

Ziggy Pop: Billy: I heard Jimmy Chamberlin's band has a new moniker: 'Skysaw'. Cool name. http://twitter.com/#!/Billy/status/13315880251293696

Billy Corgan (OFFICIAL) FROM Brad White My favorite songs were from the Spun soundtrack during this time. Thank you for them. BC: that i do own the rights to. and also my unreleased ChicagoKid project (80? songs). Matt Walker is currently putting that together with a documentary. so i could see putting out Spun soundtrack music after the rele…ase of ChicagoKid. no timetable on release though. TBK is #1 priority. i'm guessing there are probably at least 150+ unreleased songs...could be more. believe it or not i actually don't know how many there are. working on it all, with patience. i'd say the next 7 years should see the release of a ton of stuff NEW and OLD. but it ll starts with support of the new because this tells the bus…iness that there is energy there for SP in general. PLUS some of what we have unreleased is valuable. not just valuable to hear, but also valuable marketing to draw in the crowd that checked out with SP in 1996. if they come back to re-check out a mellon collie re-issue, it gives us a fresh opportunity to introduce them to the new music. we are working to make the new and the old work together to not mess up one or the other. the old should not be at the expense of moving the band forward, and moving forward should not be at the expense of properly honoring the past. all in balance, all helping make the best possible energy around SP world. but make no mistake, Teargarden is the absolute #1 without a doubt priority of SP. everything else is a distant second to that. i would LOVE a proper form to start putting out remastered vinyl, unreased tracks, unseen concerts, and so on. there is alot to get at, as long as the right form to put it out is available. i own all the ZWan rights, so yes, i can play those songs say on an acoustic tour if i wanted. i just don't have the right to release on my own the Zwan stuff until around 2014

TBK is #1 priority FUCK THAT Andy пишет: there are probably at least 150+ unreleased songs...could be more. believe it or not i actually don't know how many there are. дай людям, всё что есть, и не трахай мозг, Уильям Andy пишет: i'd say the next 7 years should see the release of a ton of stuff NEW and OLD звучит грандиозно Andy пишет: but it ll starts with support of the new звучит уныло Andy пишет: if they come back to re-check out a mellon collie re-issue уже и Mellon Collie "переиздавать" он собрался, надо же, ну каков молодец.
