Ziggy Pop: Fifteen Years Later Billy Corgan Is Still Seriously Pissed at Pavement Every day it becomes harder and harder for me to take Billy Corgan seriously. He's still really pissed at Pavement, 15 years after Malkmus made the swipe at the Smashing Pumpkins on "Range Life" on '94's Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, and has taken to his twitter page to talk some smack, calling them sell-outs and saying, of a show booked in Brazil where they have to, god forbid, share the bill, "It’s gonna be one of those New Orleans-type funerals. I say that because they represent the death of the alternative dream, and we follow with the affirmation of life part." And "Funny how those who pointed the big finger of 'sell out' are the biggest offenders now. Yawn. they have no love … We’ll be the band up there playing NEW songs because we have the love." My. God. Really? Who's uh, using the Smashing Pumpkins moniker to sell records and tour, even though he’s the only original member left? Who released an exclusive "Target Edition" of that last terrible record Zeitgeist? Who recorded music with mainstream pop star Jessica Simpson? Who really fucking cares? Shouldn’t he focus on his own career? Every idiotic thing that comes out of his mouth further invalidates anything good he ever did. He just takes himself so painfully seriously. In 1994 Pavement released Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, an album featuring the single Range Life, in which Stephen Malkmus describes going "out on tour" with Smashing Pumpkins. (Pavement never actually toured with them.) "I don't understand what they mean," he sings, "and I could really give a fuck." Corgan was reportedly so angry that he had Pavement removed from Lollapalooza's bill. "I think it's rooted in jealousy," Corgan said at the time, and, later: "People don't fall in love to Pavement ... they put on Smashing Pumpkins or Hole or Nirvana, because these bands actually mean something to them." Malkmus has often tried to downplay the conflict. "A lot of people claim we dissed [Smashing Pumpkins]," he told NY Rock magazine in 1999. "We never did. I only laughed about the band name, because it does sound kind of silly ... I like their songs – well, most of their songs anyway ... I just dissed their status. I never really cared for the rock'n'roll lifestyle or being indie." In 2008, Malkmus told Blender magazine that "Billy's gotten over it".

Ziggy Pop: This is an interview with Billy on his recent tour in Chile, not to be mistaken for chilly (weather) or chili (dinner). Aren't the fans the most super amazing in Chile? The Chilean people have really taken to having the band tour there this chilly winter to really heat up their hearts. Everywhere I look on Facebook there are amazing Chilean fans praising the band in their native Chilean language which I find most appreciative. And the millions of tagged pictures of them holding and hugging a girl not from Chile, who's personality shines hotter than the Chilean sun- Nicole Fiorintino. It is most amazing. Zero: Корган зае*** со своими намеками на то что альбомная концепция умерла. если альбом хороший то и слушать его хочется целиком. А конешно, если он говно то максимум что приходиться взять оттуда пару песен а остальные удалить! Как бы это вдолбить в его тупую лысую башку. Как раз тоже самое происходит с его текущим альбомом. у половины народу нет новых 8 песен как мне предпологается, у меня вот тока последние 4 валяются на винте, причем "спангл" можно удалить и забыть, потомучто я не могу слушать эту приметивную песню.

Ziggy Pop: Billy Corgan hints that Teargarden by Kaleidyscope may see a “change of direction” in 2011 "i hope everyone is having a great day today. i've got a few more days off before we head to Texas to start this last little bit of touring, and then off for the holidays (yay!). we've got big plans in the works for next year, including new Teargarden plans (different than 2010/change of direction/plans/a positive change)"
