Ziggy Pop: Kerry Brown mentioned some interesting things about the reissues: - The remasters for Gish and Siamese Dream were done from the original tapes. - The only exception is Crush, since the tape for that song was stolen at some point and was not found; someone just cut off the piece of tape for the song and glued the tape back together so it couldn’t be easily noticed. The DAT backup had to be used for the remaster of that track. Kerry said that the results were very close to what they were able to achieve when remastering directly from the tapes, though. - The Siamese Dream concert is a multicamera show from JBTV and according to Kerry has never been shown in its entirety anywhere. It runs for over an hour. - The Gish concert is about 40 mins, so as a bonus they added an acoustic practice session of Crush from 1994 (which is exactly not chronologically correct, but fits the spirit of the DVD). - The idea behind Kerry remixing the songs from the 1992 Soundworks sessions (Starla, Moleasskiss & Plume) for the reissues is to take them to the level of “finished” material. According to Kerry, Starla was meant to be just a demo and was finished very quickly. His remix attempts to take to the level of other released songs. - USSR is a song they discovered recently and neither of them remembered at all. It seems like it could be a song we haven’t heard yet. - Kerry indicated that both USA and USSR were never-before-heard - He showed us an instrumental version of Frail and Bedazzled (supposedly to be included in the Siamese Dream reissue, but now seems to be the free download track), and it is a very interesting version where Corgan was trying to figure out some solo licks for the final song.
Ziggy Pop: - ремастеры альбомов были сделаны с оригинальных плёнок (ну, это и так все знают) - исключение составляет песня "Crush", т.к. оригинальная плёнка запись была кем-то украдена и её так и не нашли. Кто-то просто отрезал кусок плёнки с песней и склеил ленту заново, так что сей факт не сразу был обнаружен. В результате использовали для ремастеринга этой песни DAT backup, Керри Браун утверждает, что в итоге песня зазвучала так, как если бы её ремастеринг был выполнен с оригинальной плёнки - Сиамская Мечта концерт снят на несколько камер для JBTV, и, соласно Керри Брауну, никогда нигде не показывался. Продолжительность данного выступления составляет около 1 часа - Гиш концерт идёт около 40 минут. Так что они добавили в качестве бонуса акустические репетиции песни "Crush" из 1994 года (что не совсем хронологически верно, но подходит по духу для DVD) - песня "USSR" была найдена совсем недавно, и никто из них не помнит её (упоротые они там все что-ли были во время записи в начале 90-х?) - Керри сказал, что "USSR" и "USA" - ранее не издавались и никто их не слышал (ну вот, а я думал, что "USA" это "Geek USA", оказывается нет) - идея Керри Брауна перемикшировать заново песни времён Soundworks Sessions (1992) (Starla, Moleasskiss & Plume) для переизданий состояла в том, чтобы довести их до ума, так сказать, вывести их на уровень законченного материала (to take them to the level of “finished” material). Согласно Брауну, та же "Starla" была всего лишь демкой и была записана очень быстро. Его (Керри) ремикс - это попытка дотянуть песню до должного уровня уже других выпущенных песен. (т.е. насколько я понял, та версия Старлы, которая вышла на Pisces Iscariot, по их мнению теперь говно, хаха) - так же Керри Браун представил инструментальную версию песни "Frail & Bedazzled", которая, как предпологалось, должна была войти в переиздание Siamese Dream, но теперь будет просто треком, доступным для бесплатного скачивания

Some of us were saying cynically that they might’ve broken up only so that they can do a reunion tour in 5 years when everyone will get excited about them again. - Well, nothing against them, I think that is a completely reasonable way to look at it considering what the business has turned into. The only thing I’d say is that I know those people personally and I know that that would be the last thing that they would do. If that was their strategy, they would just go quiet for five years and then pick it back up with a really focused plan. That’s not in their DNA. They’ve never been that calculating. That’s why they’re one of the great bands, because that’s just not in their bones. - In that case, if you care to speculate, why would they break up now? - Well believe it or not, I actually have inside information but I can’t reveal it. That’s the good part about my job – I get all the inside dirt. But I can only speak from my own experience. It’s really difficult to maintain any relationship for a long time. We all know that. It doesn’t matter if you love the person to death. A band is ultimately an artificial construct. People grow up, people change. At some point, maybe you look at each other and you say, ‘this just doesn’t mean the same thing to us that it once did.’ That’s actually not a bad thing. That’s an honest thing. If those guys ever decide to get back together again, that’s great. I know those guys. It would because they give a f—k. Those are real musicians. I know them all personally enough to say that. I couldn’t say that about a lot of people. - Speaking of that, are you at all in touch with your old Smashing Pumpkins band mates James Iha, D’Arcy Wretsky and Jimmy Chamberlain? - No, no.
