Ziggy Pop: ‘Pisces Iscariot’ reissue set for July 25 (in Japan)? Japanese retailer CDJapan has posted a listing (sans cover picture) for a Pisces Iscariot deluxe edition boxset. The site gives a July 25 release date for the set, which would line up with a recent update on the Smashing Pumpkins’ official website, which promised the Pisces reissue in late July. CDJapan’s description of the set would also match up with what details we already know about the Pisces reissue: that it includes a cassette tape, two CDs, and a DVD. The listing indicates that the cassette tape, which was previously described as a “recreation” of the band’s original demo tape, contains 6 tracks, implying that it is The Smashing Pumpkins demo tape, which was one of several early tapes sold by the band at their live shows. Also new from the CD Japan listing, the bonus CD is listed as having 17 unreleased tracks. We already knew that the DVD is to feature the Pumpkins’ November 19, 1988 performance at Roselle Music. http://www.spfc.org/tours/date.html?tour_id=856 However, at that 1988 performance, the band played 9 songs, and CD Japan lists the DVD as containing 24 live tracks. Extra material, perchance? Initially announced for the 2011 holiday season, the Pisces Iscariot reissue was pushed to April 2012, and then, waylaid by “production issues and some legal snags,” was further delayed.
